Marie Curie joins forces with BHF

Marie Curie Cancer Care and the British Heart Foundation have launched a joint service to care for patients with heart failure.
Under the Better Together service, the first major collaboration between the two charities, chronic heart failure patients will be cared for at home by both British Heart Foundation and Marie Curie nurses.
The programme, which is supported by a £30,000 grant from the Department of Health, is being piloted for 12 months in four primary care trust areas.
Jackie Lodge, head of cardiac care at the BHF, said: "The programme will improve our understanding of the palliative care needs of heart failure patients and, if successful, enable us to devise a model of care that could be rolled out nationwide."
