Scottish regulator axes 5,000 charities

More than 5,000 Scottish charities are facing the removal of their charitable status on Thursday if they don't register with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator before then.

Since April 2006 the OSCR has been working through the list of 30,000 charities it inherited from HM Revenue and Customs, the body that previously had responsibility for granting charitable status in Scotland.
