'The kids lose but the lawyers win' after quango spends £155,000 suing voluntary group

The voluntary sector has reacted angrily to news that the Learning and Skills Council spent £155,000 on legal fees pursuing a tiny voluntary organisation for breach of a £119,000 contract. The quango had said it was pursuing the case to protect public funds.

The Learning and Skills Council claimed that Kids in Communication, which employs four staff, did not act with "reasonable care and skill" in delivering its contract to provide services to disadvantaged young people in the West Midlands.
