Minorities' best practice scheme

By Emma Rigby, Third Sector, 1 August 2007

The Council of Ethnic Minority Voluntary Sector Organisations has unveiled a pilot peer-mentoring scheme to improve organisational development in voluntary groups working with people in minority-ethic, refugee, migrant and faith groups.

The Interface pilot, funded by the Capacitybuilders Improving Reach programme, brings organisations together to share good practice. The project, which covers London, south-west, south-east and north-west England, will involve appointing up to two experienced capacity-building officers per region, each of whom will be charged with recruiting four peer organisations.

Each peer organisation will develop learning groups focusing on one of four areas: management and leadership; ICT capabilities; workforce development; and labour market share and participation.
