MPs slam Government over unclaimed assets

The Treasury Select Committee has condemned the Government for not consulting the public about how to spend unclaimed assets.

In Unclaimed Assets Within the Financial System , published yesterday, the committee says there is inconsistency between the Government’s proposal that the banks should surrender assets voluntarily and its insistence that the aims of distribution should have been determined without wider discussion.
