Personal interest leads Leather to pull out of schools decisions

Dame Suzi Leather, the chair of the Charity Commission, will not be taking part in decisions regarding the charitable status of independent schools because she has declared a conflict of interest.

Leather's third child attends a private school. She and the commission agreed that it was inappropriate for her to be involved in decisions that could directly affect the fees she paid for her child's education.
