Fear of young deters older people from volunteering

One in five older people does not volunteer because they think children and young people are trouble, according to research by NCH and Chance UK.

The two charities’ UK Volunteer Survey 2007 reveals that the over-65s are more than twice as likely as those aged between 35 and 44 to shun volunteering because of a fear of out-of-control youngsters.
