Northern Ireland charities join Fundraising Standards Board

The Fundraising Standards Board has welcomed its first members in Northern Ireland: the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children, Belfast Central Mission and Youth for Christ Northern Ireland have all joined the self-regulatory scheme.

The charities have committed to being open, fair, honest and legal in all their fundraising practices and will use the tick logo on all their fundraising materials.

“We’re delighted to welcome our first charities in Northern Ireland," said Kate Higgins, Northern Ireland manager of the board. “But we are keen to sign up many more members.”

She added that charities in Northern Ireland played an important part in promoting the region’s causes and that the sector would benefit from their commitment to the self-regulatory scheme.

Joanne Steel, senior business development officer at the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children, said her charity would encourage other organisations raising money for good causes to follow their lead. “As one of the first organisations from Northern Ireland to join the FRSB, we have put ourselves at the forefront of best practice in fundraising,” she said.
