Beatbullying lands a channel on YouTube website
By Andy Ricketts, Third Sector, 21 November 2007
Beatbullying has agreed a groundbreaking partnership with internet search engine Google to create an online anti-bullying resource.
The charity has negotiated a dedicated area on YouTube, the video-sharing website owned by Google, to provide anti-bullying advice and support. The channel has been unveiled as part of Anti-Bullying week, which runs until Friday, and features messages from celebrity supporters such as singer Ronan Keating, actor Patrick Stewart and Arsene Wenger, manager of Arsenal FC.
It is claimed to be the first time a UK charity has negotiated such a high-profile arrangement for its cause on YouTube.
Emma-Jane Cross, chief executive of Beatbullying, said the move would pave the way for other charities. She said: "I strongly feel we are not yet using the positive side of the internet."
Patrick Walker, director of video partnerships for YouTube in Europe, said: "We're very pleased to help Beatbullying make the most of the internet."
