Top universities will not bid to run £1m research centre units

Faculties at two of Britain's leading universities for voluntary sector research have raised concerns over application criteria that bar them from bidding to run parts of the £10.25m Third Sector Research Centre.

The Economic and Social Research Council, which is co-funding the project, recognises only organisations that operate its Collaborative Awards in Science and Engineering accreditation scheme.
