Belated launch for Charity Tribunal

The Charity Tribunal will be launched this morning. The tribunal, which is intended to provide a cheaper route than the High Court for organisations wanting to challenge Charity Commission rulings, was originally due to open on 27 February but its launch was delayed at the last minute.

So far only a president, charity laywer Alison McKenna, has been appointed. A spokeswoman for the Tribunals Service said she expected the five legally qualified members of the tribunal to be appointed in the spring, with the remaining seven lay members appointed some time later. “It will take 15 weeks...
