British Waterways launches volunteering drive

British Waterways has appointed its first national volunteering manager as part of a plan to double the number of days that volunteers spend working on its network of 2,200 miles of waterways.

The post has been taken by Ed Moss. He joins from Droitwich Canals, where he was special projects coordinator. Volunteers currently give 5,000 days each year to projects such as heritage work, vegetation management and clearance of towpaths, said a spokesman. Moss said: “We’re at the start of a journey...
