CAF heralds new era with three new appointments

The Charities Aid Foundation has appointed a customer services director, a change director and a chief executive of CAF Bank.

The new appointments complete a restructuring of the charity’s senior management after changes to its departmental structure that it described as “the biggest shake-up in its 80-year history” (Third Sector Online, 11 February).

John Alexander will become interim customer services director. He was previously customer services director at Agresso, the international software company, for six years. Before that he spent several years in South Africa with Standard Bank Insurance, also as customer services director. The charity decided to make an interim appointment to allow it to begin focusing on customer services immediately.

Gustavo Romano will become change director from 21 April. He was previously director of strategic planning and change management at the International Save the Children Alliance. He has worked as a management consultant with 3M and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Peter Mitchell, currently director of operations for charity financial services at CAF, will become chief executive of CAF Bank from 1 May. He replaces Tracey Reddings, who announced her departure in February (Third Sector Online, 11 February). Mitchell has held a number of financial roles with the charity over the past eight years. Before joining CAF, he spent more than 20 years with the Barclays Group.

John Low, chef executive of CAF, said the three new roles would be instrumental in helping the charity through a period of great change that would make it more unified.
