In Kind Direct receives record donation from Argos

Retail giant Argos has donated 20,000 items, ranging from mp3 players to coffee tables, to In Kind Direct to be redistributed to charities.

The goods, which filled eight lorries, constitute one of the largest donations ever received by the charity, which works to encourage manufacturers and retailers to donate products for good causes.

Robin Boles, chief executive of In Kind Direct, said: “What makes their donations particularly fantastic is the huge range they have given us. Since In Kind works with every size and type of charity all over the UK, this will truly provide smiles all round for hundreds of people.”

One of the first organisations to benefit from the Argos donation will be the Darnall Community Nursery in Sheffield, which is moving into a new centre at the end of April.

Linda Edwards, co-coordinator at the nursery, said the donation had come at a crucial stage in the move: “Argos has come at just the right time. With the support of In Kind Direct and Argos we will be able to incorporate the children’s ideas to transform their outdoor play area into an exciting learning experience.”
