Technology service launched for Northern Ireland
By David Ainsworth, Third Sector Online, 25 April 2008
A new service providing charities with up-to-the-minute technology has been launched in Northern Ireland.
The Charity Technology Exchange will provide IT help from companies such as Cisco, Microsoft and Symantec.
Up to 4,000 not-for-profit organisations could benefit, and the services could be worth up to £20m a year, the Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action said.
“What charities often lack is the money to buy the modern technology they need to offer top-class services,” said Seamus McAleavey, chief executive of Nicva. “This new scheme can close the divide and give us access to the sort of facilities that businesses already enjoy.”
