Expert view: Campaigning - Is it time we ditched the celebs?

As the McCartney divorce proceedings become a faded memory, I still can't help feeling that Heather didn't dent only Sir Paul's bank balance, but also the reputation of celebrities who endorse charities. I am in no position to doubt her sincerity, but surely the emphatic promotion of her charity work has ended up looking incredibly self-serving.
What Heather forgot to mention was her ex-husband's involvement with more than 12 charities compared with her five (according to www.looktothestars.org). Does that make him even more righteous?
