BME charity consortium launches in north-west
By Marianne Powell, Third Sector Online, 8 May 2008
Black and minority ethnic organisations have formed a consortium in the north-west to bid for regional service delivery contracts.
The North-West BME Third Sector Consortium was launched in Manchester last week by the Council of Ethnic Minority Voluntary Sector Organisations. It is made up of 90 minority ethnic organisations, which have already been meeting on an informal basis.
“The consortium will allow groups to bid regionally and deliver locally,” said Rushi Munshi, regional director for Cemvo in the north west.
The consortium will have its own legal identity and is in the process of becoming a company limited by guarantee. However, Cemvo will still act as an accountable body on bids where appropriate.
