Study to find secret to local Compact success launched

The Commission for the Compact has launched a study with the intention of finding out what makes a successful local Compact.
The commission has asked the Institute for Voluntary Action Research to carry out the research examining why the agreements, which set out how public and third sector bodies should treat each other, have been more successful in some areas than others.
A report from the findings will be published at the end of August. The commission has pledged to develop a good practice guide and run a series of workshops using the findings from September.
Bert Massie, the Compact commissioner, said the standard of local Compacts across the country differed greatly. “There are varying degrees of success across England and this research has been commissioned to explore what makes a successful local Compact,” he said.
