Innovation Exchange and Nesta launch new support scheme
By Emma Maier, Third Sector Online, 9 June 2008
A Government-backed project to foster innovation in the voluntary sector is to launch a scheme to offer funding and in-kind support for organisations working on independent living issues or with excluded young people.
The Innovation Exchange, a partnership between the Government's Innovation Unit, chief executives body Acevo and social networking software company Headshift, has secured backing from the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts to set up the Nesta Innovation Exchange Fund. The fund will offer awards of between £10,000 and £40,000.
The exchange, which was established last year with start-up funding from the Office of the Third Sector (Third Sector Online, 9 October 2007), will also offer coaching support, a small number of events and bespoke support through its Innovation Exchange Next Practice programme.
Voluntary groups have been invited to email their comments on draft fact sheets on the Nesta Innovation Exchange Fund and Innovation Exchange Next Practice to the Innovation Exchange's director John Craig. The exchange will publish final details on 13 June.
