Campaign backs volunteers plan

Volunteering England has launched a campaign to encourage small and medium-sized businesses to set up employer-supported volunteering schemes.

Government figures show that nearly 60 per cent of private sector employees work for small and medium-sized businesses, but only 14 per cent of them have access to employer-supported volunteering schemes, compared with 47 per cent of people who work for companies with more than 250 staff.
