Talks on recession 'action plan'
By John Plummer, Third Sector Online, 16 December 2008
Sector representatives at government meeting on plan to help charities
About 40 charities attended talks organised by the Office of the Third Sector yesterday to discuss the forthcoming third sector action plan.
On 10 December, the OTS announced it would publish an action plan in the new year to help charities through the recession.
A Cabinet Office spokesman said yesterday's talks were "one of a series of meetings to help to ensure the Government's plan is robust and comprehensive" but declined to reveal what had been debated.
He added: "We continue to invite views through our website until 31 December."
Representatives from the OTS's strategic partners and the third sector advisory panel were invited to the talks, which were held to allow charities to have their say on what they would like the plan to include.
Peter Kyle, deputy chief executive of chief executives body Acevo, was among those present. He said: "We look forward to consulting on specific proposals."
