NSPCC bags £479,000 Big Lottery Fund cash
By Sarah Townsend, Third Sector Online, 18 March 2009
The charity will provide services for families affected by substance abuse
The NSPCC has received almost £479,000 from the Big Lottery Fund as part of £5.5m of lottery grants announced this week.
The children's charity was given the cash to fund its Families and Substance Support Team project, which provides advice and support to families in Liverpool affected by substance abuse.
The grant is part of the Big Lottery Fund's Reaching Communities programme, which makes grants of between £10,000 and £500,000 to projects across the UK, with a maximum project size of £750,000 over five years.
Other organisations to receive grants this week include The Bridge Project, which received £220,000 to provide employment training to disabled adults in Sudbury, and Hackney City Farm, which received £230,000 to fund gardening projects for disadvantaged young people.
