Online directory for heritage cash

A support group for UK heritage charities has launched an online directory to help the sector access new sources of finance amid fears of a funding crisis.

Heritage Link has calculated that government grants distributed through English Heritage fell by 21 per cent in the past decade and Heritage Lottery Fund awards have decreased by £175m since 2004.

Charities can use the directory to link up with groups providing grants, loans, scholarships and bursaries.

"This website brings together all the providers of regional, national and European funding, because everyone in the sector needs as much help as they can get," said Kate Pugh, chief executive of Heritage Link.
