Opinion: Focus on... National Pro Bono Week

The fourth Pro Bono Week will be launched at the Law Society on 6 June and will include the presentations of the Young Solicitors Group Pro Bono Awards

- Pro bono publico means 'for the public good' in Latin. It is the provision of free legal advice to people who cannot afford it and cannot obtain public funding

- The event is sponsored by organisations including the Bar Council, the Institute of Legal Executives and the Law Society

- The decision as to whether a law firm offers a pro bono service or not is completely discretionary.
