PDSA cashes in on animal passion

Veterinary charity the PDSA is auctioning the chance to decorate its shop windows to romantics who want to declare their love this St Valentine's day.

The charity hopes to raise money by making its 180 shop fronts available to supporters who want to decorate a window that will catch the attention of the object of their desires.

A trial last year saw 33-year-old Tamra O’Hara from Greater Manchester donating £20 to paint a marriage proposal in a shop window. She posed as a mannequin behind it, and waited for her boyfriend Syd to walk by. Syd said yes.

“Just imagine your loved one walking past the shop and glancing in to see a special message just for them,” said David Facer, head of trading at the PDSA. “It will truly be a day to remember. If you’re planning to pop the question but are a bit nervous doing it face-to-face, this may be just the solution you are looking for.”

Applications can be made at local PDSA shops.
