Prices might be a bit high, says group for aspiring female leaders

Organisers of a £75-a-head networking lunch for women who aspire to be charity chief executives have pledged to try and make future events more affordable.

Rachel Whale, founder of Third Sector Women, which has organised the Food 4 Thought event, accepted that £75 might be prohibitive.

The organisation was launched earlier this year to provide support to women in the sector wishing to further their careers.

“We want feedback so that we know if we are hitting the right spot or not,” Whale said. “If women are finding that our events are too expensive, then that is obviously something we would have to look at.

“We may need to put on events in the future that are more affordable, or even free. The most important thing is that Third Sector Women is accessible and inclusive.”

Whale said that part of the problem was the organisations’ lack of funding.

“We hope to get a sponsor who would help bring down costs and maybe provide bursaries.”
