Purple rain

This boat scene forms part of an NCH-run exhibition of young artists inspired by Turner, Whistler and Monet, to be shown at Tate Britain from 10 February to 15 May. The image, created by Josh, aged eight, who attends the NCH Furness Family Centre in Cumbria, is among 200 works made by two to 25 year-olds from NCH projects. Their art will appear in a continuous five-minute video on a plasma screen on a pillar inside Tate Britain's Manton entrance. It will run alongside a major Turner, Whistler and Monet exhibition at the gallery. Tracey Backholer, NCH arts initiatives coordinator, said: "The work explores young people's responses to the nature and beauty around them, at different times of day and in different weather."
