RAF veteran's Iraq partner search

A former Royal Air Force squadron leader who recently returned from Iraq is appealing for a charity to help him run a charitable football school there.

Alan Corbett, international manager at education umbrella group the Association of South East Colleges, said he decided to set up Basra Football Academy to foster reconciliation and give young Iraqis a focus for their aspirations.

He said the academy needed the support of an established charity. "We need a charity to say 'we'll own you and let you have a bank account'," he said.

Corbett added that he had been disgusted by what he had seen in Iraq, where he said both sides had been "ghastly to each other".
