Rainer and Crime Concern announce new name

The charity formed by the merger between young people's organisations Rainer and Crime Concern will be called Catch22, it has announced.

The rebrand marks the official launch of the merger between the two organisations, which took place in July. Catch22 will work with 16 to 25-year-olds who are out of school, out of work, without a stable home or caught in a cycle of crime.

The yellow and black pocket-sized booklet accompanying the rebrand carries the strapline "Catch22: Helping young people out", with the words "stuck" on one cover and "unstuck" on the other.

Joyce Moseley, chief executive of Catch22 and former chief executive of Rainer, said: "When we considered the young people we work with and the situations they find themselves in, the name Catch22 hit all the right buttons. We didn't want to stigmatise them as vulnerable or at risk."

She said about 300 new names were suggested by staff, volunteers and communications professionals, but declined to reveal what any of them were, or how much the rebrand had cost.

"We will concentrate on three things," said Moseley. "First, identifying the true extent of the Catch22 generation; second, working with these young people to find ways out or their no-win situations; and third, working with government to make sure the right resources reach the right people in the right places".
