31,550 charities are classed as amateur sports organisations on the Charity Commission's register

64 of these have incomes of more than £10m. These include Sustrans, which encourages cycling, walking and using public transport, and the Football Foundation

5,691 have annual incomes of between £1,001 and £5,000

4,162 are overdue in filing their latest documents with the Charity Commission. These include the Southwell Leisure Centre in Nottinghamshire, which has an income of £1m and whose 2008/09 accounts are 779 days overdue

23,752 of the charities work with children and young people, and 12,769 work with elderly people

122 have registered since January 2012, and 209 registered in the commission's first year of keeping a register of charities, which was 1961
