Research outfit to consult sector

The team preparing the brief and tender for the third sector research centre announced in July as part of the Government's third sector review is meeting key umbrella bodies to make sure sector views are represented in its report.

"It's crucial that this centre is not overly academic and that it works with the sector, not simply on it," said professor Fred Robinson, a third sector expert in the policy research team at the Centre for Entrepreneurship based in Durham Business School, which is conducting the study.

The team was appointed last week to assess the scope of the centre (Third Sector Online, 1 November). The Office of the Third Sector chose the Durham team because of its "strong experience of research institutions and its wide range of expertise".
