Association of Voluntary Service Organisations

AVSO is a pan-European body whose members include CSV. It lobbies at European level to promote and facilitate long-term voluntary service. It also liaises with the European Commission on behalf of its members regarding the European Voluntary Service programme. Its website contains a list of past and upcoming events.

Cemvo

The Council of Ethnic Minority Voluntary Sector Organisations is a registered charity dedicated to building the capacity and advocating on behalf of minority ethnic voluntary organisations. Institute for Volunteering Research

Reach aims to recruit retired people with managerial, professional, business and technical experience and match them with part-time voluntary roles throughout the UK. The website allows both volunteers and organisations to sign up for the programme.

Timebank

TimeBank is a charity established to encourage people to volunteer in their communities, and help charities and businesses to develop effective volunteer recruitment programmes. The website contains information on all of these topics, and also offers people the chance to sign up to volunteer.

V

V is a charity set up by the Government to champion youth volunteering in England, with the aim of fulfilling the Russell Commission's aspiration of inspiring a million more 16- to 25-year-olds to volunteer. The site contains a lot of background information, including a link to the old Russell Commission site.

Volunteer Scotland

The Volunteer Centre Network in Scotland is made up of 32 volunteer independent centres from throughout Scotland that have chosen to work together. The website allows potential volunteers to search for a range of more or less narrowly defined opportunities within a range of distances from where they live.

Volunteering England

Volunteering England aims to increase the quality, impact and accessibility of volunteering in England. The website offers a wealth of resources for volunteers and volunteer managers, including campaigns, projects, funding and links to local volunteer development agencies.

Volunteering Hub

The Volunteering Hub, managed by Volunteering England, works to achieve the ChangeUp aim of a well managed volunteering infrastructure recruiting a greater number and diversity of people. The website contains a lot of background information about the project, including links to the relevant ChangeUp sites.

VSO

VSO is an international development charity that works through volunteers with the aim of alleviating poverty. The charity's website contains a lot of information for people of all ages who are interested in volunteering their services overseas.

Women's Resource Centre

The Women's Resource Centre is a charity which lobbies on behalf of women's voluntary organisations and provides them with training, information, resources and one-to-one support. Its website contains details of all of these activities and also includes job and volunteering opportunities.

Workforce Hub

The UK Workforce Hub helps voluntary and community organisations make the best of their paid staff, volunteers and trustees through workforce development. The website contains a host of useful information and links to other relevant organisations and resources.

WRVS

WRVS uses a network of over 60,000 volunteers to provides a range of services to help people in need throughout Great Britain who might otherwise feel lonely and isolated. The website contains information on various volunteering opportunities and allows volunteers to sign up.

YouthNet

YouthNet is an exclusively online charity and is dedicated to guiding and support young people. The YouthNet site contains links to various resources including an interactive lifestyle advice site and a link to do-it.org.uk. The latter is the only database of volunteering opportunities throughout the UK. Entering a postcode highlights opportunities in that area.
