JANUARY

Paul Nurse quits as chief executive of Cancer Research UK.

FEBRUARY

Simon Collings (left) leaves Oxfam as director of fundraising to become chief executive of The Resource Alliance. The NDCS appoints David Heap, who is deaf, as the first director of its Welsh office. Guide Dogs for the Blind director of finance, Morag MacDonald, leaves the charity after eight months.

APRIL

Ben Summerskill joins Stonewall as chief executive, moving from The Observer where he was assistant editor.

MAY

Derek Bodell, chief executive of the National Aids Trust, takes on additional duties as joint vice-chairman of the Government's independent advisory group on sexual heath and HIV. Maggie Williams becomes director of RNID Scotland. Ian Bruce steps down from the post of director-general at RNIB after 20 years. Jon Thorne is appointed head of financial regulation at the Charity Commission.

JUNE

Fiona Mactaggart becomes minister for the voluntary sector to replace Lord Filkin; Margaret Hodge becomes cross-departmental minister for children.

The Association of Children's Hospices appoints Julian Hall as head of corporate fundraising. Former advisor to Gordon Brown, Maeve Sherlock, becomes new chief executive of the Refugee Council. Frank Vorhies becomes chief executive of Earthwatch Europe.

JULY

Barry Coates is scheduled to leave as director of the World Development Movement to fulfil same role at Oxfam's New Zealand branch in September.

Dean Pallant is promoted to head of external relations at the Salvation Army.

Diana Lamplugh announces her decision to step down from the Suzy Lamplugh Trust.

AUGUST

Former chief executive of nuclear power company British Energy Peter Collins joins the British Heart Foundation as director-general.

SEPTEMBER

Rob Williams is appointed chief executive of Bliss. Mike Forrest, a director of Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, is appointed finance director at the YHA. Pauline Crowe is appointed director of Prisoners Abroad. Christian Aid's head of global advocacy Mark Curtis resigns. Alex Markham is appointed chief exec of CRUK. Judith Brodie becomes chief executive of the Impetus Trust

OCTOBER

RNIB appoints Lesley-Anne Alexander (left) from the Peabody Trust as chief executive.

Former Millennium Commission director Erica Roberts is new chief executive of Guidestar. Samaritans' chief executive Simon Armson announces his retirement.

Paul Lamplugh stands down as chief executive of the Lamplugh Trust to take care of his wife who had retired in August. Crispin Truman is appointed director of the Churches Conservation Trust.

NOVEMBER

Don Brereton is appointed director of Motability. Charles Badenoch is appointed chief executive of World Vision. Sue Roe becomes chairwoman of the Tree Council.

DECEMBER

Charles Kernahan becomes chief executive of National Kidney Research Fund.
