RNID leader lands top post at Acevo

RNID chief executive John Low has been appointed the new chair of chief executive's body Acevo.

He kicked off his chairmanship with a challenge to the sector to throw off its "woolly, amateurish image".

"Charity is no longer something done by the wealthy," said Low. "It is a powerful professional channel for harnessing collective action to achieve social change."

Low is pledging to consolidate Acevo's work on voluntary sector governance and launch a drive to change the terms of trade between charities and funders.

"The sector must stop trading on its good intentions and start trading on the results it achieves," he said.

Low replaces Fran Beckett, chief executive of the Church Urban Fund, who was chair for two years.
