O'Shaughnessy joins the employment charity from children's care organisation St Christopher's Fellowship, where he was director of development and new initiatives for more than four years.He succeeds John Bakewell, who retired at the end of August after 26 years with the charity.

"The Careers Development Group has an impressive track record in enabling unemployed people to return to work and has grown substantially over the past few years," said O'Shaughnessy.

"I'm certain we can build on that success and deliver even higher quality to jobseekers in the UK."
