Scope gives out fundraising badge on Facebook

Scope has launched a fundraising partnership with BT on social networking site Facebook.

The national disability charity has created an e-badge, which web surfers can add to their profile by downloading BT’s iDonate application and giving money to Scope.

“Through Facebook, we believe we can move in the direction of uniting disabled and non-disabled people and at the same time promote disabled people’s equality,” said Louise Jagger, director of fundraising at Scope.

Badges must be renewed on a monthly basis, encouraging ongoing support, and donors also have the option of sending it to friends as a gift.

Facebook is one of the fastest growing ways of expressing yourself and sharing experiences,” said Beth Courtier, head of charity programmes at BT. “With more than eight million users in the UK, it’s an ideal way for people to show their support for one of our strategic partners.”
