Sector can give views on CIOs

Charities are being invited to attend consultation events about new charitable incorporated organisations this month.

The events, run by the Office of the Third Sector and the Charity Commission, coincide with the consultation period on the draft regulations that will govern CIOs.

CIOs will be a new corporate form for charities that will be able to limit the liability of their trustees without having to submit to dual regulation by Companies House and the Charity Commission, as charitable companies do.

An expert panel will sit at the half-day events, which will be held in London on 15 October and in Leeds on 21 October. The morning sessions will focus on issues for charity trustees and employees; the afternoon sessions will be designed for charity lawyers and accountants.
