Shell out for Save the Children

Erni Upton's painting of Shell Sand Beach on the Isle of Iona, Scotland, will be among the works of art appearing in Save the Children's fundraising exhibition at the Maclaurin Galleries, Ayr, in October and November.

Work by 160 Scottish artists, including Helen Turner and David Scott-Martin, will be exhibited then sold to raise money for the charity's Ayr branch. Work on display is priced from £40 to £5,000. Anne Grant, manager of Save the Children's Ayr branch, said the annual event had raised more than £220,000 since it began in 1993. The Save the Children 2008 exhibition runs from 6 October to 2 November.
