Antrobus will join the drug and alcohol treatment charity in October from Clubs for Young People, where he has been chief executive for five years. He will replace William Butler, who has been acting chief executive since January and will return to his previous role as chief operating officer.
Antrobus said: "When I was chair of a policy report looking into street gangs in Britain, I gained an understanding of the impact that drugs have on communities. Charities such as Addaction help those communities, and I am proud to take on this role.
"I bring with me expertise in lobbying, campaigning and advocacy at national levels and influencing the forthcoming government agenda," he added. "I am looking forward to using this, along with my values-based approach and inclusive style, to take Addaction forward while dealing with the difficult yet challenging times ahead."
