The national charity that provides counselling for children in schools decided to put the children it works with at the heart of its new website.

Development

Place2Be brought in the creative agency Sift Digital to meet children, volunteer counsellors and staff at a Place2Be school in Cardiff to find out more about the charity and what the website should include. The charity conducted workshops with stakeholders and a survey of existing staff, volunteers and supporters to decide on the content of the new site.

Design and content

The new website is bright and colourful, using simple colours and artwork produced by children who use the charity's services. These images serve as a central design for the website. The site is easy to navigate and the design is clean and fresh. There are seven children's stories on a carousel at the bottom of many of the website's pages to engage visitors. This ensures that the charity's work with children is a consistent thread through the site.

The home page could benefit from more content other than links to what the charity does and how to donate. Photographs of children who have been helped by the charity might also be a way to give the site a more personal feel.

Special features

An integrated map showcases Place2Be's services and offers a functional way to locate the areas where the charity's schools are based.

Place2Be says:

"We can now realise our full digital potential, with a platform built to raise awareness and enable us to support even more children and families to build futures with prospects rather than problems."
