The Small Charities Coalition is asking members whether they would pay for membership and what services it should offer as part of a consultation on its future strategy.
The first part of the survey asks charities and other stakeholders about the challenges they face, which SCC services they use or might use in the future, which other membership bodies they belong to and which other organisations they go to for support. It also asks whether organisations would pay membership fees, and how much they would pay. Membership is currently free to UK charities with annual incomes of less than £1m.
The second section of the survey asks members about their use of customer relationship management systems. The survey says that the SCC is looking into the CRM needs of small charities, working with the CRM consulting firm Hyphen8.
Established in 2008, the SCC merged with the trustee body Charity Trustee Networks in 2011. Its current strategy was put in place after the merger.
Earlier this year, chief executive Alex Swallow resigned from the coalition because the organisation could not continue to support his £45,000 salary.
John Barrett, operations manager of the coalition, said: "We are a coalition organisation. We don’t do anything alone or without remit, so it is very important that we speak with our members and engage; it’s important our members have a say on this."
