Rebecca Carey, the fundraising manager at the charity that provides advice and support to allergy and food intolerance sufferers, takes us behind the scenes of the fundraising team

How many fundraisers are in your team?

I'm the only full-time fundraiser based at our offices in Sidcup, Kent, but we've got a team of 25 volunteer fundraisers who are working across the UK.

What does the team do?

Our fundraising income is generated through events, community fundraising, fundraising groups and individuals as well as corporate social responsibility fundraising, trusts and major donors.

How much do you raise?

Our annual income is about £1m. Much of that is raised through our Seal of Approval product endorsement scheme and our cause-related marketing initiatives. Community support is an area in development, and we hope to bring in an additional £100,000 during this financial year.

What's in the pipeline?

We have just launched a £1m fundraising appeal to fund specialist allergy nurses in communities across the UK. We have introduced new ways to increase income through developing our supporter base by expanding our social media channels and taking our work out to groups in the community. We also have a unique thank-you campaign up our sleeves for later this year.

What's it like in the office?

There is a great feeling of working together to achieve results. The charity is small, with 15 staff, but we are supported by the invaluable work of our office-based volunteers.
