How many fundraisers are there?
There are five of us in the fundraising team and we are based at our office in Ringwood, Hampshire. We are also supported by a group of seven part-time volunteers.
What do you do?
We cover most areas of fundraising, including corporate fundraising, trusts and foundations, legacies, direct mail and statutory funding.
We've also just secured a major lottery grant for the first time, which will total £489,000 over the next three years. We are strongest at corporate and trust and foundations fundraising.
How much do you raise?
We raised £750,000 in the financial year 2010/11 and this year we have a target of £1.1m. Our annual spend on fundraising is normally about £196,000. If you take out staff costs, it's £22,000.
What's in the pipeline?
We are looking to diversify our income, particularly through more individual giving. It can be quite hard to raise funds this way because of the stigma that can be associated with liver disease. We are going to try to develop our online fundraising more over the next year to reach out to more young supporters.
We're also looking to develop our contractual income and capitalise on opportunities that the big society presents by developing a product or service that ticks the right boxes.
What's it like in the office?
We work in a very tranquil setting and all put a lot of heart into our work. We always celebrate any successes with cake.
