Through the lens

An Afghan girl in a camp for Internally Displaced Peoples near Herat, Afghanistan is one of the images featured in Childscapes, a photography exhibition launched by Unicef to celebrate the birthday of The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The exhibition is on at Proud Central Galleries, London, and includes photographs by Tom Craig, Charles Hart and Abbie Taylor-Smith. Arranged thematically around the most important issues of the convention, the event is designed to raise awareness of the work of Unicef with disadvantaged children across the globe. The idea for the exhibition was suggested by writer Irvine Welsh while on a field trip in Afghanistan in 2001.
