Trio become IoF fellows

The Institute of Fundraising has appointed fundraising professor Adrian Sargeant, consultant Bill Giles and Nick Brooks, chair of the institute's Standards Committee as fellows.

The institute appoints fellows either for their contribution to the institute or the advancement of the fundraising profession. The new appointments bring the total number of fellows to 38. There are also five honorary fellows.

Bill Giles, senior consultant at consultancy Dovetail Management, is a former chair and treasurer of the institute's London regional group. He has worked on the institute's certificate in fundraising management and developed practices in corporate fundraising for small charities.

Adrian Sargeant, the Robert F Hartsook professor of fundraising at Indiana University in the US, has written more than 100 academic papers.

The institute has also awarded the title to Nick Brooks, who has chaired the standards committee, which is responsible for the codes of fundraising practice, for more than 10 years.

"Each of these three individuals has made their mark on fundraising and the institute in a particular and distinctive way," said Lindsay Boswell, chief executive of the institute. "It is very special to be recognised in this way by your peers."
