Unison launches learning scheme

Trade union Unison is launching a voluntary sector learning and development scheme to help charities improve training opportunities for their staff.

"We're interested in entering into learning partnerships with voluntary sector organisations," said Mike Short, national officer for the voluntary and community sector at Unison.

"At organisations where we are recognised, we will talk to the employer and find out what training and development needs they have. We will talk to staff about their needs and we will try to work in partnership with the employer to provide them."

Short added that Unison would also help to find appropriate courses for staff and even try to secure funding to support them.
