What's new: A round-up of the latest fundraising campaigns

PDSA, the animal welfare charity, has commissioned a TV advert in an attempt to persuade more animal lovers to donate to it.

The 20-second advert focuses on the work the charity does to fund veterinary care for pets and asks viewers to "give something back" to the animals they love. Viewers are directed to a phone number and a dedicated website.

The advert was created by advertising agency Watson Phillips Norman and will run until June. PDSA hopes it will build on the success of a similar campaign that the charity ran in 2005. The adverts will be broadcast on Channel 4 and satellite stations.

World Vision, the international development charity, is launching School Aid, a campaign to teach schoolchildren about global poverty. The charity hopes to raise £500,000 to help 500,000 children in developing countries. Starting on 12 May, the campaign will consist of 11 themed months.

St Mark's Hospital Foundation has started a fundraising appeal that takes inspiration from the 4,200-tile mosaic lion on the wall outside the north-west London hospital. The charity has created a virtual version of the mosaic at www.mosaicappeal.org. Visitors can buy tiles for either £100 or £200, depending on their position in the design. The money will fund research into colorectal disease, a speciality at the hospital.

Trees for Cities is seeking runners for its annual sponsored 5km run, the Tree-Athalon, to be staged in London on 15 September and Leeds on 23 September. Registration costs £18.
