BBC Children in Need is raising money for its 2009 appeal by launching a range of polka-dot covers for hi-tech gadgets, featuring pictures of Pudsey Bear. Design firm Wrappz has created a range of covers for MP3 players, games consoles and laptops. They are available on the BBC Children in Need and Wrappz websites. For every iPod, PSP and Nintendo DS cover purchased for £4.99, £3 will go straight to the charity, and £6 will be donated from the sale of every £12.99 laptop, Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3 cover.

Barnardo's Cymru is holding a half marathon in Cardiff on 18 October to help raise funds for as many causes as possible. The charity, which owns and organises the event, wants its supporters and supporters of other charities to use the race to raise funds for their chosen causes. Entry is from £24 and registration closes on 18 September.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is asking supporters to organise sponsored coffee events at home, school or work. Participants in the Paws for Coffee appeal can get free support packs that include invitations and recipes for cakes and biscuits.
