The event aimed to challenge preconceptions and explore the poetry, wordplay and lyricism of hip-hop and classic theatre. McKellan was assisted by Mobo-winning artist Akala and his sister, Ms Dynamite, to help participants compose their own lyrics, which they will perform live at City Gateway's 10th anniversary showcase event next month.

The charity works with people in the London borough of Tower Hamlets.
