YWCA Scotland appoints new chief executive

Gill Martin has been appointed as chief executive of YWCA Scotland. She takes up the appointment after four years as operations director for the charity.

Martin has previously worked in senior management roles at Breast Cancer Care and Age Concern Oxfordshire.

“We are delighted to have someone with Gill's skills, expertise and enthusiasm,” said Kirsten Verth, chair of the board. “We are confident that she will be a driving force as we develop our work with young women in Scotland and take YWCA Scotland to new successes.”

Martin said: “My aim is to establish YWCA Scotland as a key contributor to policy debate and to provide a platform for young women in Scotland to have their voices heard. I want to see girls and young women developing their leadership potential and making positive changes in their lives, communities and the world they live in.”
